Balda Architects, led by architect Vladimír Balda, is a Liberec-based studio specializing in small- and medium-scale projects that blend contemporary design with innovative, sustainable solutions. The team applies modern architectural methods - such as energy-efficient timber construction, passive-house design principles, smart ventilation systems with heat recovery, and renewable-energy integration - to create buildings that are both environmentally responsible and cost-effective over their lifespan. Our approach emphasizes the use of new materials, context-sensitive forms, and advanced technical standards that raise the quality and resilience of local architecture.
Working with a strong understanding of the Liberec region, we deliver comprehensive services from concept to implementation while introducing forward-looking solutions to public spaces, housing, and reconstruction projects. Their focus on user-friendly design, smart spatial planning, and sustainable building technologies enables them to address contemporary architectural challenges in ways that support healthier, more functional, and future-ready communities.

Frýdlant Town Square Reconstruction — Led by Vladimír Balda and Jiří Janďourek, this revitalization project reimagined the city’s public square with varied paving materials, clear zoning for social functions, and a central water fountain; One-Story House with Sunshade (Bradlec) — A timber-frame single-family house designed with a long flat roof that doubles as a sunshade. The layout maximizes natural light and energy efficiency; Passive House in the Jizera Mountains — A compact, energy-saving wooden home oriented to the south, with recuperative ventilation and solar panels for domestic water heating. Small House on a Hillside — Designed to fit a steep, sloping plot, this house is barrier-free on both levels, with a blend of ceramic and wooden construction, and a gabled roof facing south. House with Bay Window (Oldřichov v Hájích) — A classic home set on a mountain slope, featuring a gabled roof, wood-clad facade, solar collectors, and a controlled ventilation system with heat recovery. Reconstructed Family House — A historic home on the edge of a medieval town was sensitively renovated to preserve its original character; elements like ceiling beams and perimeter walls were retained, and new structures were carefully integrated
