The municipality of Góra Kalwaria is positioning itself as a local government committed to innovation and sustainable development. The municipality is rolling out smart infrastructure: for example, the municipality has joined the FORTESIE project under the Horizon Europe programme to modernize its swimming‐pool complex using photovoltaic panels, advanced building‐management systems and data‐driven user engagement.

Meanwhile, we have financed fibre‐optic networks in previously underserved settlements, closing the digital divide and enabling teleworking and modern learning.

The municipality’s strategy extends beyond technology: Góra Kalwaria also invests in public-space renewal, community‐driven recreation zones and energy-efficient retrofits of public buildings. These efforts demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusive, environment-friendly growth—and make the municipality a capable partner for forward-looking, innovation-focused projects and collaborations

Past work

“Revitalization of the Vistula escarpment — park infrastructure (gazebo & outdoor gym)”: The municipality carried out a project under the rural development programme aiming to transform a section of the riverfront escarpment into a public recreational park. As part of this, they built a publicly accessible gazebo with picnic tables, benches, waste bins, bike racks, and a fire-pit area — forming a segment of a larger tourist/recreational trail. In the same project, an outdoor gym was installed (with equipment such as a stepper, stationary bike, exercise benches, and gravel surface). The overall goal was to enhance local recreational infrastructure, leverage natural and historical potential of the area, and raise quality of life for residents.

“Warszawski Zachodni Orange Fiber Network”: Under this project, with funding from the EU through the national “Polska Cyfrowa” programme, a fibre-optic broadband network was built in Góra Kalwaria and surrounding villages. The investment connected schools and educational institutions first; then expanded to many households throughout the municipality. The aim was to eliminate “digital white spots,” provide residents with access to high-speed internet, support remote work and education, and help equalize access to modern telecommunications across the region.

“Water and sewage management in Gmina Góra Kalwaria”: This was the largest single investment project in the municipality’s history — worth over 48 million PLN net (about 59 million PLN gross), of which nearly 27 million PLN came from EU funds under the Operational Programme Infrastructure & Environment. The project included: building sanitary sewage infrastructure in the village of Mikówiec; modernizing the main water-treatment plant (“Kalwaryjska”); replacing water and sewer networks in central streets of the town; and upgrading the sewage treatment plant Moczydłów, to improve wastewater quality discharged into the Vistula River. Thanks to these works, many more residents gained access to modern water and sewage services; the quality and reliability of municipal water supply improved; risk of network failures decreased; and environmental impact on the river was significantly reduced.

“Purchase of equipment and software for 11 schools in Gmina Góra Kalwaria”: As part of projects co-financed by EU funds under the Regional Operational Programme for Masovian Voivodeship 2014–2020, the municipality equipped 11 schools with modern ICT hardware and software. The goal was to enable contemporary teaching methods, ensure readiness for remote learning (for example, in case of pandemic or other disruptions), and generally improve the quality and flexibility of education in the municipality.
